In Galatians, Paul, as a spiritual father, writes to those he loves, seeing that he brought them to Christ. These have now come under the influence of those who sought to pervert the glorious Gospel. Paul, therefore, in this section writes to remind them of the precious truth of their adoption. Once they were slaves, now they are sons. In the opening chapter of John’s Gospel, we are reminded of this wonderful truth: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even them that believe in his name.” (John 1:12). As sons of God, we are “heirs according to the promise.” (Gal 3:29) As we look at our verses under consideration, let’s learn more about the blessings afforded to us as sons and be urged to live in the present possession of this wonderful blessing.
