Liberty In Christ
Many people view Christianity as a list of rules, restrictions, and obligations. Yet Scripture teaches that true freedom is found not apart from Christ, but in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 3, Paul contrasts the old covenant with the new covenant and explains the incredible liberty believers possess through Jesus Christ. Because of Christ's finished work, we are no longer bound by the condemnation of sin, the burden of trying to earn God's favor, or the spiritual blindness that keeps people from seeing God's glory. Through the Holy Spirit, believers experience freedom that transforms their lives into the likeness of Christ.
This passage reminds us that Christian liberty is not freedom to do whatever we want—it is freedom to become everything God intends us to be.
