The Two Suppers

As Mark 14 opens, two very different scenes are unfolding. On one side are the religious leaders plotting to kill Jesus. On the other side is a woman who pours out an expensive ointment upon Him in an act of worship. The contrast could not be greater. One group viewed Jesus as a threat to be eliminated; the woman viewed Him as a Savior worthy of everything she had. This passage reminds us that every person must decide what they will do with Christ. Ultimately, the Bible presents two suppers: the supper where Christ is honored and the future supper where Christ is celebrated. The choices we make concerning Jesus today determine where we will stand tomorrow.
