When You're Disappointed With Christ
Disappointment is one of the most difficult emotions believers face, especially when it seems connected to God. We pray for healing and the sickness remains. We expect deliverance and the trial continues. We believe God will act one way, but He chooses another. In Luke 7, John the Baptist found himself in prison, discouraged and confused. The same man who boldly proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah now sent messengers asking, "Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?" John's expectations of Christ did not match his circumstances. Yet Jesus responded with compassion, truth, and reassurance.
This passage reminds us that faith is not the absence of questions but the willingness to trust Christ even when we do not understand what He is doing.
