Circumspectly, Not Circumstantially

One of the greatest challenges of the Christian life is learning to live according to God's truth rather than according to our circumstances. Too many believers allow their spiritual condition to rise and fall with their situation. When things are good, they rejoice; when difficulties come, they become discouraged, fearful, or distracted. Paul reminds the Ephesian believers that they are to walk circumspectly—carefully, wisely, and intentionally—not circumstantially. The Christian's conduct should be governed by God's truth, not by changing circumstances.

The world reacts to circumstances. The believer responds according to God's wisdom.
