Motivations For Service

Every believer is called to serve the Lord, but the reason behind our service is just as important as the service itself. In Luke 10, Jesus sent seventy disciples ahead of Him to minister in the surrounding cities and villages. As they obeyed His command, they experienced both challenges and victories. When they returned, they were excited about the results they had seen, but Jesus redirected their focus to a greater motivation. Through this passage, we learn that Christian service should not be driven by recognition, success, or personal gain, but by a love for Christ, compassion for people, and gratitude for our salvation.
