Who's Son Is He?

When most people come to the opening verses of Matthew's Gospel, they are tempted to skip over the genealogy. Yet these seventeen verses answer one of the most important questions in all of Scripture: "Whose Son is He?" Matthew carefully traces the lineage of Jesus Christ through generations of kings, sinners, outsiders, and ordinary people to prove that Jesus is exactly who God promised He would be. This genealogy is not simply a list of names—it is a testimony to God's faithfulness, grace, and sovereign plan of redemption.

The genealogy reveals that Jesus is the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, and ultimately the Son of God.
